There is widespread assumption in the church that the gospel of Jesus Christ supplanted the Law of Moses. Dr. Sloyan deals with this issue by carefully exploring the evidence in the Bible and in Jewish writing from the Biblical era. He also examines the early Christian centuries to show how church beliefs and practices developed. Concluding that Christ is the end of the law as its completion but not as its repeal, he calls all Christians to select and interpret well their oldest tradition and its affirmation of God and world, of the Jews and of Jesus Christ that most befit a responsible humanity before a holy God.
