Tillich shows here that in spite of the contrast between philo' sophical and biblical language, it is neither necessary nor possible to separate them from each other. On the contrary, all the symbols used in biblical religion drive inescapably toward the philosophical quest for being. An important statement of a great theologian’s position, this book presents an eloquent plea for the essential function of philos' ophy in religious thought. Paul Tillich, 1886—1965, has been long recognized as a leading theologian of our age. Professor of philosophical theology at Union Theological Seminary for twenty-two years and later University Professor at Harvard Divinity School, he was at the time of his death John Nuveen Professor of Theology at the Divinity School of the University of Chicago. He was forced to leave his teaching post at the University of Frankfort in 1933 because of his outspoken criticism of National Socialism. His books include The Courage To Be; Love, Power and Justice; Theology of Culture; The Protestant Era; and Systematic Theology. .Найменування теми як предметна рубрика: Theology -- Christology | Philosophy Тип одиниці:
