After all, what does a primitive Palestinian religion have to do with space travel, genetic engineering or a depleted ozone layer? Are Christians so concerned with preserving biblical truth that we have little to offer those who suffer, those who are lonely or those who despair? John Stott makes a trumpet call to all disciples of Chrst to be both contemporary snd biblical. The first means to live and move with the times. The second requires that we retain unswering loyalty to God's Word. Combining the two is not an easy task. Our challenge is to be both conservative and radical at the same time conservative in guarding God's revelation and radical in our application of it. Stott meets this challenge by presenting the gospel in a way that speaks to modern dilemmas, fears and frustrations, while retaining Christianity's authentic identity. Disciples, he says, can prepare for this task by caltivating a listening ear, embracing both mind and emotions, and finding God's true guidance. In addition, he sympathetically uncovers the emptiness of secular men and women, demonstrating how the church can meet their quests with the truth and grace of jesus Christ. Here, one of this century's finest contemporary Christians opens our eyes and our ears to the world and the Word..Найменування теми як предметна рубрика: Theology | Christian life - 1960 | Time - Religious aspects - Christianity Тип одиниці:
