Suspicion and hatred are being replaced by trust and friendship, and we are seriously considering the prospects for reunion. There exist considerable and important doctrinal differences between the Christians of the Roman com¬munion and those of other communions but these are frequently exaggerated by deep misunderstandings, not merely of one another’s position but often of one’s own. The editors of this book, have gathered together some of the finest writing to be found among both Protestant and Catholic theologians. The essays each deal with something central to Christian belief and the results are quite staggering. The writings of Father Geiselman and of Oscar Cullmann on Scripture will open the eyes of many of us in this country to the way in which we have an immense amount to learn both about our own understanding of scripture and from that of the great Protestant scholars. Karl Barth has an international reputation, what he has to say again is of immense value to Protestants and Romans alike. It is complemented by an essay by the young German theologian, Hans Kung. There are articles about Christ, the Church, the Sacraments and. two different aspects of Scripture. All these articles are written with a clarity and force only to be found among the great thinkers, either Catholic or Protestant. Differences are not resolved in this book, but as a result of what is said intelligent and charitable, conversation is possible. .Найменування теми як предметна рубрика: Scripture - Tradition | New Testament | Church Тип одиниці:
