Israel remains on center stage of the history of the world. Why does a country smaller than the state of New Jersey capture the attention of so many nations today? Some have said that the existence of Israel as a nation is of no significance at all. But is that really true? Has God finished with the very nation He personally chose to work through to bring about the redemption of the world?
The Bible says no. The prophet Daniel fervently prayed that he might know when God’s promise of Israel’s restoration would be fulfilled. As a result, he received two of the most incredible prophecies in all of Scripture. The first prophecy details the precise day that the Messiah would be presented to Israel. The second one specifies the persecution that Israel will endure as nation after nation fight on her soil.
In spite of the intense suffering that Israel has experienced—and will continue to experience, especially during the reign of the Antichrist—the last chapter in the book of Daniel reveals that the nation still has a glorious future ahead of her.
