In The Strong and the Weak Dr Tournier maintains that people should not be classified as strong and weak. We are all strong towards some, weak towards others, and whether our initial reactions are aggressive or escapist we all need to learn psychological courage and spiritual wisdom. ‘This thesis is illustrated by a wealth of example drawn from the author’s psychiatrical experience, and every pastor will greatly benefit from reflection upon the cases which Dr Tournier describes’ (Sherwin Bailey in the Church of England Newspaper). ‘This is a book not only for pastors, sociologists, teachers and leaders, but for everybody.
