Every decade for the past 50 years, The Christian Century has charted currents in religious life and thought by asking prominent figures to reflect on how they have reoriented their thought in light of social and political events, scholarly research, or personal experients. The contributing authors are encouraged to reflect on the questions that most engage them now and on how those questions have developed in their minds - as the Century says, "to share how they have grappled with the moral and theological challenges of our time." This book presents articles by fifteen shapers of religious thought published in The Christian Century in 1990. Representing various religious denominations, political positions, and academic disciplines, the contributors state their views, old and new, on topics ranging from feminism and politics to religious pluralism and interfaith dialogue.
